Today was not only International Talk Like a Pirate Day, but was also our nanny’s wedding day.
I decided to forgo looting, drinking rum and other general rascally pirate activities and shoot her wedding as a gift to her for her unending care and love for my daughter – truly, the two of them are inseparable, and without her we’d be lost.
Her and her husband-to-be aren’t overly well off, and the wedding was pulled together with the help of family and friends. There was no way they would have ever been able to afford a photographer, but then again, there was no way I would ever have not been there for them today.
Jilly – you rock! It was an honour to be there for you.
The wedding also gave me a chance to try out my new R-Straps, from Blackrapid. I bought these in my ongoing quest to save my back, which has been problematic for years. I’ve purchased two RS 5‘s and a CoupleR, giving me the option of single or double cameras – today, I put both options to the test.
Did they help? Well, they take a little getting used to, which I’d expected, but in general, yeah, they certainly make the load lighter. The double set-up made shooting with two bodies a breeze, while the single strap my camera is always where I need it and available in a split second.
If you’re looking for a strap right now, its well worth checking them out.
Look out for more shots from the wedding on my photography site soon.
